The Importance of Making Time For Your Oral Health

A visit to the dentist is something that many people avoid.

There are many reasons for this. Fitting appointments around busy work schedules and family life as well as fears and anxieties that may have been pestering you since childhood. Don’t worry, we can help.

Many factors often prevent people from making those very important visits to make sure their mouth is clean and healthy, as well as appointments to have treatment that they know is necessary to improve their health or even to get them out of pain. However, here at Bridgeways Dental in Southampton, we work tirelessly to ensure your visit to the dental practice is an enjoyable and stress-free experience for all.

A hectic lifestyle is often the culprit for missed dentist appointments, as many people simply struggle to find time for dental visits or forget to book their routine appointments. Our automated reminder system helps out by sending you an email or a text when you are due to make an appointment, and also reminds you of appointments already made. You can even reply to your text to confirm your attendance.

There are three ways to book your examination appointment, by calling our friendly receptionists, emailing the practice, or by using our online booking system, available 24 hours per day. (The online booking system is available to book routine and new patient examinations only). We are open five days a week and have a late evening on Thursdays so those busy at work in the day can get over to us.

If you give us a call, we have last minute and same day appointments reserved for those short on time or who’s schedule changes last minute as we know how hard it is to fit everything in. This means there should be nothing stopping you from accessing the essential dental care required to repair, maintain and look after your teeth.

Many people have admitted that they regularly skip their routine dentist check-ups as they believe their mouth is already healthy. It is true that if you thoroughly brush and floss your teeth regularly, the chances are you won’t experience dental cavities or gum troubles. However, your dentist examines your mouth for much more than this. In these check-ups, your mouth will be inspected for factors such as signs of a healthy jaw, gum recession, eating disorders, tooth crowding, saliva quantity, cancer and even early signs of diabetes which is why visiting your dentist is so important.

Perhaps the main reason for many people choosing to neglect the dentist is anxiety. Fear of the dentist is an age-old worry, but our aim at Bridgeways Dental is to put even the most nervous patients at ease. In addition to our friendly staff, our practice is very inviting with the aesthetics of a contemporary and comforting living space which offers a warm and welcoming non-clinical atmosphere.
